Women and Sleep

Women and Sleep

Having irregular or deprived sleep can lead to suffering from other medical issues. For woman and sleep, it is an important factor to regulate in order to ensure overall health. Irregular sleep schedules in midlife women showed an increase in insulin resistance. This puts them at higher risk of developing diabetes. It is important to maintain a regular sleep schedule during the work week and weekends. Changing the times one goes to bed can wreak havoc on the circadian systems that control glucose metabolism.

Women and sleep: keep a regular sleep schedule in order to sleep enough to maintain their physical and mental health.

Younger women seem to be more affected by sleep restriction vs older women. Their ability to remain awake after 3 days of sleep restriction was significantly poorer. Could this be due to the fact that most younger women go to bed later, and older women go to bed earlier? Maybe an earlier bedtime could help increase the amount of sleep that is lacking due to busy schedules.

Is the lack of sleep solely a female issue, or a pervasive issue that hits males and females equally? We live in a society that unfortunately creates a system where our sleep debt rises. Females can be particularly affected during pregnancy and having to keep the same work schedule. It’s not always the case, but they may also be the assigned partner that takes care of children, the household, and working outside the home. This stress may also contribute to the lack of sleep many experience. In young women that reported nightly sleep disturbances, they had increased features of anxiety and depression. There is the need to keep a regular sleep schedule to ensure adequate sleep in order to maintain physical and mental health.

  2. Thanks for the tips you discuss through this website. In addition, quite a few young women that become pregnant usually do not even try and get health insurance because they worry they probably would not qualify. Although a few states now require that insurers supply coverage no matter the pre-existing conditions. Charges on these guaranteed options are usually higher, but when taking into consideration the high cost of health care it may be a safer approach to take to protect one’s financial future.
